L’auteur et son oeuvre en quelques mots
‘Abd al-Wāḥid b. ‘Āshir (n.1582/990-m.1631/1040) est un savant malikite du xviie siècle. Il est l’auteur du Murshid al-Mu‘īn, un poème didactique de 314 vers.
 
Selon Ibn Ḥamdūn, c’est à l’occasion de son pèlerinage qu’Ibn ‘Āshir composa ces vers, après avoir constaté les nombreuses erreurs qui entachaient les pratiques rituelles des pèlerins. De retour à Fès, ses étudiants lui demandèrent d’ajouter aux vers relatifs au pèlerinage d’autres vers jusqu’à ce que le poème englobe finalement les six chapitres classiques du fiqh al-‘ibādāt (jurisprudence des actes cultuels). Mais c’est au chapitre du pèlerinage qu’il a accordé un soin pédagogique tout particulier. 
 
Au sein de l’enseignement du fiqh malikite au Maghreb al-Murshid al-mu‘īn constitue généralement la première étape pour les débutants.
